Mrs. Hampton's 7th & 8th Grade Social Studies

Hello 7th and 8th graders,
I would like to welcome you to my class. My name is Mrs. Hampton and I will be your Social Studies teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. I hope you are as excited as I am to start this school year. We are going to be working hard, trying our best and having a lot of fun in Social Studies this year. This Syllabus includes important information you will need to know so we will have a successful year.

CONTENT:

The following topics are what we will be focusing on this year in 7th and 8th grade Social Studies.  We will be using critical thinking skills, analyzing, and synthesizing primary and secondary documents, creating projects, as well as actively engaging and participating in classroom activities. 

7th Grade:
Quarter 1: Bill of Rights and the Civil War
Quarter 2: Reconstruction and the Industrialization of the US from 1865-early 1900's
Quarter 3: World War I
Quarter 4: The Great Depression


8th Grade: 

Quarter 1: The American Revolution, US Government and the Constitution
Quarter 2: World War II
Quarter 3:The Cold War and Modern Civil Rights Movement
Quarter 4:  Vietnam War and US History 1972-Present

Mrs. Hampton's Guidelines for Success:

1). Be respectful- To yourself, to your peers, to all teachers and staff, and to our classroom
2). Be responsible- You need to have all your work completed before you come to class,        turn absent work in, participate in class, take care of yourself, always have your student      ID.
3). Come ready to LEARN- Walk in with a positive attitude and bring all of the needed
     materials to class.
4). Always work hard and always try your best- Give your best effort. If you are          
     working  hard and trying your best you will get good results.
