Mr. G.

 Welcome to my classroom website!

Thank you for visiting my website.  I'm excited to be teaching Curriculum Enrichment this year at Villago and Cactus Middle Schools. This site will be a great resource for parents and students alike to stay up-to-date on what is happening in my classroom.

Use this site as a 21st century tool in keeping up with the happenings of your (or your child's) everyday life in CE Language Arts or the 6th Grade CE Elective.

Be sure to check out the calendar to see due dates, essential questions, and more!  Essential questions are questions that my students will be able to answer for you at the end of each day's class.  Go ahead...ask them!

Curriculum Enrichment Language Arts:

In CELA, we are beginning to get into the meat of our curriculum.  The students will start getting (almost) weekly articles and vocabulary lists.  The articles will need to be annotated and have have a written reaction.  The vocabulary lists will have to have vocabulary boxes completed.  At the end of the week, the students will have a vocabulary usage test on the words.  Next week, we will begin our first class novel study with Lois Lowry's classic novel: The Giver.

6th Grade Curriculum Enrichment Elective:

In the 6th grade elective, we are leaving Egypt to head to Greece.  The students will be divided into city-states where they will compete in the 7th annual CE Olympics.  The students will create monsters and flags and compete in a battle of athleticism, lateral thinking, and other feats!

Typed Assignments Should Use the Following Criteria:

Font: Times New Roman 12 point (or something similar...don't get cute)

Double Spaced (line spacing), 1 inch margins, name and date in right hand corner, title centered Bold and Underlined, new paragraphs indented

Have a week,

Mr. G.

Curriculum Enrichment Language Arts:

CE Language Arts uses a combination of the 7th and 8th grade language arts curriculum calendars.  The class is challenging, rigorous, and fast-paced.  Expectations are high as we work through (as well as enrich) the district approved curriculum.   We will be reading a diverse selection of novels and short stories, writing in a variety of styles, and finding effective ways to present information.  Throughout the year we will continue to strengthen our reading, writing, and speaking skills

6th Grade Curriculum Enrichment Elective:

The CE Exploratory Class will be challenging, hands-on, and fun.  We will never do a fill-in-the-bubble test in this class.  Students will be assessed by building, debating, discussing, effort, and perseverance.

Typed Assignments should use the following criteria:

Font: Times New Roman 12 point (or an equivalent serif typeface)

Double Spaced (line spacing), 1 inch margins, name and date in right hand corner, title centered,

Have a week,

Mr. G.
